Troubleshooting 🔧

Something not working? Here are solutions to common issues.

App Won't Load

Web

  1. Hard refresh: Ctrl/Cmd + Shift + R
  2. Clear browser cache
  3. Try a different browser
  4. Disable browser extensions temporarily

Desktop (macOS/Windows)

  1. Quit and reopen the app
  2. Restart your computer
  3. Reinstall SpudSuite (your data is preserved)

Android

  1. Force stop the app and reopen
  2. Clear app cache (Settings → Apps → SpudSuite → Clear Cache)
  3. Reinstall the app

Sync Not Working

Check basics first

Try these fixes

  1. Click the sync icon to force manual sync
  2. Disconnect and reconnect your cloud provider
  3. Sign out and back into your Google/Dropbox account

"Access denied" or "Token expired"

OAuth tokens expire periodically. Fix it by:

  1. Go to Settings → Cloud Sync
  2. Click Disconnect
  3. Click Connect again
  4. Re-authorize SpudSuite

Notes Missing

Check these places

Recover from cloud

If notes exist in your cloud but not locally:

  1. Disconnect cloud sync
  2. Clear local data (Settings → Advanced → Clear Local Data)
  3. Reconnect cloud sync
  4. Notes will download from cloud
⚠️ Warning

Clearing local data deletes any un-synced changes. Make sure your cloud data is up to date first.

Sync Conflicts

If you edit the same note on two devices before they sync:

  1. A yellow conflict banner appears
  2. Click the banner to see both versions
  3. Choose which version to keep (or merge manually)

Android Widget Issues

Widget not updating

  1. Remove and re-add the widget
  2. Make sure SpudSuite isn't being killed by battery optimization
  3. Go to Settings → Apps → SpudSuite → Battery → Don't optimize

Widget blank or "Loading"

  1. Open the main app once (initializes the widget)
  2. Force stop the app and reopen
  3. Remove and re-add the widget

Can't Connect Google Drive

Pop-up blocked

The OAuth window may be blocked. Allow pop-ups for spudsuite.com.

Wrong account

If you're signed into multiple Google accounts, make sure you're authorizing the right one.

"This app isn't verified" warning

Google shows this for some apps. Click "Advanced" → "Go to SpudSuite (unsafe)" — it's safe, just not fully verified by Google yet.

Pro Not Working

Purchased but no Pro features?

  1. Make sure you're signed into the same browser/device you purchased on
  2. Try refreshing or reopening the app
  3. Check Settings → Subscription for your status
  4. If still not working, email support@spudsuite.com with your receipt

Reset Everything

As a last resort, you can start fresh:

Web

  1. Clear all site data for spudsuite.com in browser settings
  2. Reload the page

Desktop

  1. Uninstall SpudSuite
  2. Delete the data folder:
    • macOS: ~/Library/Application Support/SpudSuite
    • Windows: %APPDATA%/SpudSuite
  3. Reinstall

Android

  1. Settings → Apps → SpudSuite → Clear Data
  2. Or uninstall and reinstall
⚠️ Data Loss Warning

Resetting deletes local data. Make sure your cloud sync is working first so you can restore from there.
