What is SpudSuite?

SpudSuite is a privacy-first productivity suite with notes, todos, kanban boards, and schedules. Your data syncs to your own cloud storage — we never see it.

Why "Spud"?

Because potatoes are humble, reliable, and go with everything. Just like a good productivity app should be. Also, we like puns. 🥔

Is SpudSuite free?

Yes! The core app is free forever — unlimited notes, todos, boards, sync, and all platforms. Pro ($4/mo) adds themes, templates, and priority support.

Do I need to create an account?

No. You can use SpudSuite immediately without signing up for anything. If you want to sync, you connect your own cloud storage (Google, Dropbox) — still no SpudSuite account needed.

Privacy & Data

Where is my data stored?

On your device first (local-first), and optionally in your own cloud storage (Google Drive, Dropbox, iCloud). SpudSuite has no servers that store your data.

Can SpudSuite read my data?

No. When you connect Google Drive or Dropbox, you authorize SpudSuite to access only its app folder. We have no access to your other files, and your notes never touch our servers.

Is my data encrypted?

Your cloud provider encrypts data at rest (Google/Dropbox both do this). In transit, everything uses HTTPS. We don't add additional encryption currently, but since only you have access to your cloud storage, your data is private.

Can I export my data?

Yes. Go to Settings → Export. You can download all your notes as Markdown files, or as a JSON backup.

What happens if SpudSuite shuts down?

Your data is in your cloud storage as plain JSON/Markdown files. You'll always have access to it. No lock-in.

Sync

How do I set up sync?

Go to Settings → Cloud Sync → Connect. Choose Google Drive or Dropbox and authorize access. Sync starts automatically.

How often does sync happen?

In real-time when you're online. Changes push within seconds. If you're offline, changes queue and sync when you reconnect.

What if I edit on two devices at once?

SpudSuite handles conflicts automatically. By default, the most recent edit wins. If edits are very close together, you'll see a conflict banner to choose which version to keep.

Can I use multiple cloud providers?

Not simultaneously. You can only connect one cloud provider at a time. To switch, disconnect the current one and connect a new one.

What platforms are supported?

Is there a Linux version?

Not yet, but you can use the web app (PWA). It works offline and feels native. Dedicated Linux builds are on the roadmap.

Can I install the web app?

Yes! Click the "Install" button in your browser (or the install icon in the address bar). SpudSuite works as a PWA with offline support.

Pro

What's included in Pro?

Can I try Pro before buying?

We don't have a free trial, but we offer a 7-day money-back guarantee. Try it risk-free.

How do I cancel Pro?

Go to Settings → Subscription → Cancel. Your subscription ends at the next billing date. You keep Pro until then.

Do you offer refunds?

Yes, full refund within 7 days, no questions asked. Email support@spudsuite.com.

Technical

Is SpudSuite open source?

Not currently. We may open-source parts of it in the future.

Does SpudSuite use AI?

Not yet. We're exploring AI features (smart search, writing assistance) but privacy-first: any AI would run locally or with your explicit consent.

Can I use SpudSuite offline?

Yes! SpudSuite is local-first. Everything works offline. Changes sync when you reconnect.
